| In this second class on
medical botany, study the basic chemical
constituents and medicinal properties of plants
used for the nervous, reproductive and immune
systems. Learn how to adapt the Traditional
Chinese Medicine method of herbal energetics to
Western herbs that are commonly grown in the
Northeast. Herbal preparations including
tinctures and salves are demonstrated. Students
discover how to create a complete,
constitutional herbal formula for complex health
issues. Certificate Requirement (track 3).
This is a classroom lecture only. Those
interested in classroom as well as fieldwork

Please note that general plant actions (i.e.
carminitives, cholagogues, expectorants etc.)
will be discussed. Detailed phytochemistry of
medicinal plants is not discussed in this class.
