Learn about herbal traditions
as well as specific foods and plants to optimize
health. Study the properties of plants used for
the digestive, respiratory and circulatory
systems. Learn about the proper methods for
herbal cultivation, harvesting and storage to
protect herbal efficacy. Students will learn how
to prepare simple herbal formulas.
This is a classroom lecture only. Those
interested in classroom as well as fieldwork
should consider our
Botanical Medicine Program.
Please note that general plant actions (i.e.
carminitives, cholagogues, expectorants etc.)
will be discussed. Detailed phytochemistry of
medicinal plants is not discussed in this class.
